Episode #215 – Not To Dump On Erik Gudbranson, But…

The 2019 NHL Trade Deadline has come and gone, and so has Erik Gudbranson. One of Jim Benning’s biggest acquisitions early in his tenure as general manager was losing a lot of fans in Vancouver after three less-than-stellar seasons. Can he find a new start in Pittsburgh? Or will the game continue to pass him by?

Ryan, Geeta and P Mac gather this week to breakdown the trade deadline. A deadline that saw the Columbus Blue Jackets absolutely load up for a playoff run with Matt Duchene, Adam McQuaid, Ryan Dzingel and Keith Kinkaid. Can Torts and his new lineup of pending UFA’ finally win the Blue Jackets a playoff series? Or will it be another year of the same old in Columbus?

In Vancouver, the Canucks traded Erik Gudbranson to Pittsburgh for Tanner Pearson. We look back at Gudbranson’s polarizing tenure in Vancouver, and even Gudbranson himself admits it was nothing to be proud of. They also discuss the Vancouver debut of Luke Schenn and if the former Maple Leaf first-round draft pick can find a home in Vancouver playing regular minutes.

They discuss the big teams that are loading up. Nashville and Boston bolster their already impressive rosters while the Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs decide not to tinker with something that works. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Finally, they compare the Canucks to rom coms and discuss the serious lack of goaltending in the western conference.
