Episode #206 – Traded For A Pile Of Old Rags

The William Nylander saga is over in Toronto and to celebrate, Kyle Dubas made a “blockbuster” trade with Jim Benning and the Vancouver Canucks.

Ryan, Geeta and Paul gather in the palatial estate to discuss the six-year, $6.9 million AAV contract handed out to William Nylander at the 11th hour. What will this mean for the Maple Leafs’ big cap crunch next season? Could we see Nylander or another big part of the Leafs’ core be moved next year? Or can Kyle Dubas make it all fit under the salary cap?

They also discuss the Vancouver Canucks trade for Toronto’s odd man out, Josh Leivo. What can he bring to the struggling Canucks? Early projections have him playing with Bo Horvat, who has seen a revolving door of linemates this year, all while leading the team in scoring.

They talk about how the Arizona Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks’ have fared since making their big trade last week. Both teams are headed in opposite directions, to say the least.

Ilya Kovalchuk is set to miss a month of hockey following a procedure on his ankle. Is this a legitimate absence from the LA Kings, or is he just waiting out Willie D’s tenure as head coach? They also discuss the two intriguing waiver pickups the Kings’ made this week, Brendan Leipsic and Nikita Sherbak.
